In Central Alabama, overlapping northeast Jefferson County and west-central St. Clair County, the lovely little community of Argo is a fabulous place to buy a home in the Birmingham-Hoover Metro Area. Now don’t be confused, there is an unincorporated community in Walker County with the same name, but the City of Argo of which we are speaking is mostly in St. Clair County. Home to just over 4,000 residents, Argo is governed by a mayor/city council and served by St. Clair County schools. Schools serving students residing in Argo include Springville Elementary School, Springville Middle School, and Springville High School, all in Springville, and Margaret Elementary School in Odenville.
Among the many benefits of living here is the city’s access to major transportation routes, including County Road 6 which runs southeast of town. State Highway 7/U.S. Highway 11 runs through Argo northeast-southwest, as does Interstate 59. The community has a long, interesting history having originally been Native American territory, and only incorporated in 1987. It also boasts highly professional Fire and Police Departments, a Senior Center, and a lovely city park that features a pavilion, running track, and playground.
